2023-24 School Year Procedures

*Subject to MCPH, IDOH or CDC Guidance Changes

The following will serve as the guidelines beginning December 11, 2023 and could be subject to change following any changes to guidance from the Marion County Public Health Department, Indiana Department of Health, and the Centers for Disease Control resulting from community spread of COVID-19. The M.S.D. of Wayne Township no longer reports positive cases and quarantines to MCPHD and IDOH.

Indoor Activities

  • Masks are optional for all individuals inside an M.S.D. of Wayne Township facility.
  • Visitors will be permitted to eat with students and staff during lunch after completing the required background screener in the school office.
  • Hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes will continue to be available.
  • Shared spaces will continue being cleaned and sanitized.

Outdoor Activities

  • Masks are optional for all individuals while outside.
  • Hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes will continue to be available.

Food Services

  • The Child Nutrition Department will follow all USDA Guidelines for K-12 school meal preparation and distribution.

Transporting Students

  • Masks are optional for students utilizing any M.S.D. of Wayne Township vehicle for transportation.
  • Hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes will continue to be available.
  • Shared spaces will continue being cleaned and sanitized.

Health Screening

  • Individuals who suspect a COVID-19 infection should
    • Get tested
    • Isolate to protect others (stay home when sick)
    • Rapidly notify their close contacts if they are positive
    • Seek healthcare if at higher risk

Contact Tracing and Quarantines

  • IDOH no longer recommends contact tracing and quarantining in schools
  • If an individual tests positive for Covid-19
    • Should stay home and isolate from other people for at least 5 full days
    • People who are in isolation may return to school on day 6 as long as fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications and symptoms have improved
    • They should wear a mask when around others at home, in public and at school for an additional 5 days
