Ben Davis Senior Named State Champion at ISSDA State Speech Tournament

On Monday evening, our school board recognized Ben Davis High School senior Abdou-Rahmane Aminou, who recently competed at the ISSDA State Speech Tournament and was named state champion in Programmed Oral Interpretation.

Aminou is co-captain in speech and head debate team captain. Additionally, Abdou is a TOP 30 scholar, a member of the Muslim Student Association (MSA), and a member of National Honor Society. He will attend Indiana University-Bloomington with a psychology major and a Spanish minor.

In addition to state champion winner Aminou, Ben Davis had four quarterfinalists (Top 24), two semifinalists (Top 12), and two finalists (Top 6). The team finished fourth in the state in the large school AAA division. Mr. Fred Douse and alumnus Richard Bowman coach the team.

Congratulations to Aminou and the team on their stellar ISSDA State Speech Tournament performance.
