Ben Davis Ninth Grade Center Principal named High School Principal of the Year for Marion County

The Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP) has named Steve Samuel District 7 (Marion County) High School Principal of the Year. Mr. Samuel is principal of the Ben Davis Ninth Grade Center.

Mr. Samuel was nominated by the school’s two assistant principals, Andrea Wilson and Amy Keller. They wrote that Mr. Samuel “is an excellent administrator for this critical stage in a student’s high school academic career.” They also said that he is “a visionary with professional development and helping meet the social and emotional needs of both students and staff.”

Mr. Samuel has been principal of the Ninth Grade Center since 2011. Previously, he served as an assistant principal and teacher at the school. He also taught at Lynhurst 7th & 8th Grade Center.

“This is another great example of the excellent people we have working with our children,” said MSD Wayne Superintendent Jeff Butts. Mr. Samuel will now be in the running for Indiana Principal of the Year.
