Record Number of Students Come to MSD Wayne From Out of District

As school resumes in the MSD of Wayne Township, 820 students who live outside the district’s boundaries are attending its schools this year. It’s the highest number of out-of-district students MSD Wayne has ever recorded.

The 2017-18 school year began Thursday, July 27. MSD Wayne’s balanced calendar provides seven weeks off during the summer, and two-week breaks in the fall, winter, and spring.

Official student enrollment for the district will be calculated in September. The official enrollment for the 2016-17 school year was 16,138.

“The parents of our out-of-district students have chosen to transport their children to our schools from outside of Wayne,” said MSD Wayne Superintendent Jeff Butts. “We feel this is a clear indication of the strength of our academic offerings.”
