MSD Wayne Students, Staff Kick Off Thanksgiving Food Drive

Once again this year, students and staff in the MSD of Wayne Township are collecting donations of food so those in need may enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal.

Organized by Ben Davis High School Senior Class Sponsor Melissa Edwards, the food drive is the school’s annual senior class officers’ project.

“This is our largest project of the year and has always been a huge, rewarding success in the past, including last year with Covid,” Mrs. Edwards said. The project served 438 Wayne families in 2020.

Each school in the district designates 15 families who would most benefit from the food drive. Mrs. Edwards collects the families’ names and creates a database. The food and money each school collects is then delivered to Ben Davis, where it is packaged for delivery to families. Each food basket will contain a turkey, three bags of groceries, and a gift card for $5 to purchase milk, bread and butter.

Anyone wishing to help with the food drive may drop off donations by Thursday, November 18 at Ben Davis High School (Door 1). For more information, contact Melissa Edwards at 317-988-7000.
