Area 31 Career Center Director Recognized for Leadership

Dr. Patrick Biggerstaff, director of career and technical education for the Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township, has received the 2021 Tom Paul Outstanding Director Award. This award comes from the Indiana Association of Career and Technical Education Districts (IACTED).

In a letter to Dr. Biggerstaff, IACTED Executive Director Dan Ulrich said Dr. Biggerstaff joins “a list of distinguished past award recipients.” He added that the “IACTED membership appreciates your hard work and feels you are most deserving of this prestigious award. The real benefactors, of course, are our students as they prepare for their chosen careers.”

The Area 31 Career Center, directed by Dr. Biggerstaff, serves students from 11 high schools: Avon, Ben Davis, Brownsburg, Cascade, Danville, Decatur Central, Monrovia, Mooresville, Plainfield, Speedway, and Tri-West. Area 31 offers 41 different career programs, and has been recognized as a STEM-certified school by the Indiana Department of Education.
