Wayne Township Adult Education Holds Drive-Through Ceremony for 2020 Graduates

More than 200 adult learners are now better prepared for the future, thanks to the Wayne Township Adult Education program.

Those 200-plus individuals received certificates and diplomas at a drive-through graduation ceremony held September 12 on the Adult Education campus in the Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township.

“Our students and staff were determined to accomplish their goals this year, whether learning took place in a brick-and-mortar classroom or an online learning classroom,” said Christy McIntyre-Gray, coordinator of the program. “I’m very proud that together, we achieved nearly 400 diplomas and certificates.”

Wayne Township Adult Education offers classes for community members to learn English, complete their high school equivalency, and earn career certifications. The program has formulated strong partnerships with the Immigrant Welcome Center, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Indiana Legal Services (ILS), and the Language Assistance Program (LAP) to serve our immigrant community by offering English classes, citizenship classes and assistance with N-400 filings.

Wayne Township Adult Education also runs a “bootcamp” for those looking to pass the state’s high school equivalency exam, along with providing career training programs. For more information, visit adulted.info.
