MSD Wayne Receives State Grant to Continue Funding School Resource Officers

The MSD of Wayne Township has received a grant of $100,000 to fund its school resource officers at Ben Davis High School.

The monies come from the Secured School Safety Grant program administered by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS). MSD Wayne has now received a total of seven grants through the Secured School Safety Fund, totaling more than $337,000. The latest grant is the largest yet received by MSD Wayne from the Secured School Safety Fund.

“Our school resource officers are a key part of our overall school district safety plan,” said MSD Wayne Superintendent Jeff Butts. “The relationships they build with our students make our schools safer and more secure. And their presence helps deter the kinds of behaviors that could jeopardize the safety of our students and staff. We’re grateful that these dollars from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security will help us reduce our financial burden and maintain safety in our buildings.”
