New MSD Wayne Chief Financial Officer Will Help District Navigate Financial Future

The Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township has named Barry Gardner as its new chief financial officer. Mr. Gardner has served as chief financial officer for Brownsburg Community Schools for the last four years.

“My most important goal in this new position is to provide the best services and resources possible for our students,” said Mr. Gardner. “That will mean improving our financial stability so we are less reliant on referendum revenue.”

Mr. Gardner began his career as a sixth grade teacher in Speedway Schools. After eight years of teaching, he became the district’s athletic director. He then became an assistant principal in Brownsburg Community Schools, before moving into the position of chief financial officer for the district.

Mr. Gardner is actively involved in the Indiana Association of School Business Officials (IASBO). He has also worked in collaboration with various state agencies to develop legislation.

Mr. Gardner received his bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Marian College in 2000. He earned his master’s degree in educational leadership at Indiana University and his educational specialist degree from Ball State University.
