Kelin Mark named principal of Chapel Hill 7th & 8th Grade Center for 2019-20

Kelin Mark, assistant principal at Chapel Hill 7th & 8th Grade Center, will become principal of the school starting in the 2019-20 school year. Mr. Mark will replace Principal Sheri Patterson, who will retire in June.

Mr. Mark began his career in K-12 education as a social studies teacher and special education teacher in Indianapolis Public Schools. He then became a business teacher in Pike Township Schools, and came to the Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township in 2011 as assistant principal at Chapel Hill. “Since that time, Mr. Mark has excelled in various leadership roles at the school,” said MSD Wayne Superintendent Jeff Butts.

Mr. Mark has been involved in the overall administrative work of the school, including scheduling, student engagement activities, and evaluation of staff. He also organized and led a group called Young Men of Purpose, which involves more than 200 students each year.

Mr. Mark earned his bachelor’s degree in business from Maryville College in 1993. He completed both his master’s degree in education in 2003 and his administrative license in 2009 from Oakland City University.
