MSD Wayne Partners with The Kitchen Community to Create Learning Gardens

Students at several of our schools will start learning about the food they eat by helping it grow.

A partnership with The Kitchen Community has enabled four schools — Chapelwood, Stout Field, Maplewood, and Robey elementary schools — to plant what are known as Learning Gardens.

The Kitchen Community describes Learning Gardens as “dynamic outdoor classrooms” that produce edible gardens. Staff from The Kitchen Community install the gardens and teach students how to plant and care for what they grow. School staff and students then take on the responsibility of tending the gardens, which will produce both fall and spring crops.

We are grateful to The Kitchen Community, which will be sponsoring Learning Gardens in other MSD Wayne schools soon!
