MSD Wayne to Serve Summer Meals to Children in Community

The Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township will once again offer free meals to children 18 and under as part of the Summer Servings Program.

MSD Wayne’s Child Nutrition Services Department will provide lunch at 22 locations, including seven elementary schools. Other sites include apartment complexes, mobile home parks, Christamore House, and the Wayne Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library. Summer Servings takes place weekdays June 12-July 14. No meals will be served July 4.

The Giants Bus Stop Cafe will again help transport food to some of the sites. MSD Wayne has converted two school buses that will take the food to community sites and provide a place for kids to eat.

“We’re happy to be able to participate in this federally funded program to provide an additional opportunity for our children to have healthy meals during the summer months when school is not in session,” said MSD Wayne Superintendent Jeff Butts.
